HOW TO PASS the field training program

After passing the police academy, your training will continue as you enter a two week in-house training phase. The in-house training curriculum consist of the Santa Clara specific training you didn’t receive in the academy. After that you will enter our Field Training Program. The Field Training Program is an apprenticeship program designed to help you learn how to apply what you learned in the academy in the real world setting. You will be paired with several different experienced Field Training Officers (FTO) and each will help facilitate your learning. On average, you will spend 22 weeks in the Field Training Program. Each day in the program you will take on additional responsibilities until the final two weeks where you will prove to your FTO that you are competent enough to be a solo patrol officer.
